Diagnosing Dyslexia

Before seeking educational treatment for dyslexia, it is advised that you receive a formal diagnosis of dyslexia. Dyslexia testing should be performed by professionals trained to administer a battery of testing measures that will pinpoint both the strengths and weaknesses of your child.

At this time, Discovering Dyslexia does not offer diagnostic testing for dyslexia. We recommend that you contact Children's Hospital of Denver which provides testing through their Denver Learning Center (720-777-6250).

Initial Consultation

Diagnostic testing is recommended, but is not mandatory in order to participate in a Davis® Program. Discovering Dyslexia does provide an initial consultation which will determine if the program is a suitable solution for the client's learning difficulties and goals. The typical initial consultation will take about 2 hours and includes a symptoms profile, short reading assessment, and a perceptual ability assessment. For children, participation of at least one parent is required.

The Program

Puzzle Pieces Coming Together

This positive, creative-based 30-hour program is DESIGNED for the learning style of the visual-spatial person. While many other programs address only the symptoms of the learning disability, using tedious drill and repetition — the Davis methods get to the root cause of the learning difficulty and correct it using the natural strengths and talents of the student’s personal learning style. Students will learn HOW THEY LEARN and leave with the ability to implement the knowledge obtained during the program into daily life.

Find out more about the 30-hour program and program specifics here.

After the Program

The student will leave the program with all of the tools, understanding, and materials necessary to implement the program into their every day lives and achieve positive results. Davis Symbol Mastery® of 219 “trigger words” (those words that do not have a visual image) is an essential part of the correction of Dyslexia. Support Training is provided on the last day for family members, tutor(s) and/or teacher(s) who will support the student in this follow-up.
