Janet and Russ Confer have enjoyed the blessings of marriage for thirty three years and have three children: Hannah, Jacob and Benjamin. Hannah is an English Professor and published poet. Jacob is a graduate student in the Doctoral program at Rosemead School of Psychology. Benjamin is currently enlisted in the Navy and training in the Navy Seal program.
At the age of eight years old, Benjamin began having difficulty with reading and spelling and needed hours of help after school. After several consultations and evaluations, Janet and Russ discovered that Benjamin's difficulties were a result of dyslexia.
They began to research the learning disability and studied programs that were available. This search led them to the Davis Dyslexia Association International® (DDAI). The results of the correction program enabled Ben to eliminate the confusion dyslexics often experience with reading, spelling and math and brought him back to grade level. As the difficulty in these subjects diminished, Benjamin excelled in his artistic ability and began to explore other areas of interest.
Realizing the learning strategies developed by the DDAI could dramatically improve the academic success of a dyslexic child, and excited by Benjamin's improvement, Janet enrolled in the Facilitator Training Program at Davis Dyslexia Association International. She has completed all the formal training and field work necessary, and has been a certified, licensed, Davis® Dyslexia Program Provider since April of 2002.
